Need to dig trenches, footings or holes? A mini excavator is often the better tool. Want to run the machine yourself? Ask for dry hire.
Mini excavator hire
Mini excavators typically range from about 1 to 5 tonnes. Smaller machines suit tight backyards; larger ones dig faster and deeper. Typical jobs: trenching for power, water and reticulation, footings, stump removal, post holes with an auger, and drainage.
Dry hire (machine only)
With dry hire you operate the machine yourself. Things to confirm with the operator before booking:
- Whether you need a licence, ticket or experience for that machine
- Delivery/float costs, or whether you need a suitable trailer and tow vehicle
- Fuel, cleaning and damage terms, and any bond
- Insurance and who is liable for damage to services or property
- Minimum hire period (half-day, day, weekend)
Wet hire
If you'd rather not operate it yourself, ask for wet hire and an experienced operator will do the job. See bobcat hire for what's often included.
Always lodge a Before You Dig Australia enquiry before excavating.
